Certificate Issuance

“Japanese-Language Proficiency Test Certificate of Result and Scores” is issued for the purpose of admission to advanced education or finding employment. This certificate contains fail/pass results and scores for each scoring section. It can be used as official proof for schools and companies.

Organizations that accept requests for certificate issuance differ by location where you took the test. Please select your test location.

Please make a request at the Japan Foundation or the local host institution of the city where you took the test.

1. Requests at the Japan Foundation:

Please fax the following documents to the Japan Foundation.
Issuance is free of charge. A certificate will be issued approximately one week from receipt of your request.

Application form for certificate issuance Copy of ID (passport, etc.)

Letter of proxy (applies only if application is done by proxy)

2. Requests at local host institution:

※For individuals who took the old test, a certificate that lists test sections and scores of the old test will be issued. Please refer to “Comparison of New and Old Tests” to see how test sections, scoring sections and range of scores of the old test would be compared to the new test.
