※ 2009 was the first year the test was conducted twice a year and also the last year of the old JLPT. Exceptionally many examinees took the test that year.
※ In 2017, the number of applicants exceeded 1 million, and in 2019, about 1.36 million applicants.

※ In 2020, due to the spread of the COVID-19, the JLPT in July was canceled all over the world, so it was only held in December.
